Climate-Neutral Building Stock: Who Must and Can Invest How Much?

Achieving a climate-neutral building stock by 2045 will require total investments of around €1,809 billion – €1,170 billion for residential buildings and €639 billion for non-residential buildings. Spread over one year, that amounts to roughly €86 billion – a sum that, given the German construction industry's annual turnover of €190 billion, appears fundamentally manageable from an economic standpoint.
