Information about the Foundation
Establishment and Purpose
The foundation was established to develop cross-sector strategies for a climate-friendly Germany in close cooperation with other think tanks. Based on sound research, it aims to inform, advise, and stimulate public debate.
Reduction of Emissions
The foundation is also dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions that do not directly result from energy use—particularly in the sectors of agriculture, industry, and waste management. These emissions should be avoided as far as possible or offset through so-called negative emissions.
Social and Economic Dimensions of Climate Policy
In addition, the foundation addresses industrial policy issues related to the transformation process. A particular focus is placed on the social impacts of climate policy on households as well as on questions of public and private financing.
Funding
The Foundation for Climate Neutrality is supported by the non-profit, U.S.-based Climate Imperative Foundation. The Climate Imperative Foundation funds highly relevant climate protection activities worldwide and is managed by Energy Innovation: energyinnovation.org
